Our facility is conveniently located at 2720 Summerdale Drive (just off of SR 580 in the Countryside area), behind Steak and Shake and across the street from Kohls. We encourage everyone to visit us.
Our hospital is designed to keep patients separate from vacationing pets. There are even separate entrances and outdoor spaces for the boarding and bathing areas of the facility. We would love to give you a tour of our animal hospital and pet boarding facility.
Fear Free is a certification and commitment by our staff to work with our patients and their families to make every visit to the vet as low-stress and worry-free as possible.
This includes gentle handling, positive conditioning with a variety of treats, and sometimes medication to limit stress. Please let us know if you feel your pet gets nervous at the vet’s office and we will do our best to make your visit as fear-free as possible.

Senior Pets require more frequent check-ups.At Metzler Veterinary Hospital, we recommend Senior Wellness exams every 6 to 12 months and senior bloodwork/urinalysis at least once a year. When you bring your senior pet in for an exam, discuss any changes such as food and water intake and activity level. Pets, like people, can develop arthritis, memory loss/dementia, and vision/hearing loss. Our laser therapy for dogs can really help senior pets. It is important to report any changes to your Veterinarian.
Bring in any medical history you have of your pet when you come to our vet clinic. It’s best to keep a journal of your pet’s health throughout his or her life, including behavioral shifts. If you have something like this, share it with our team. If not, let us know everything that you think will be important. Our veterinarians can still work with whatever information you have.
In some circumstances, Dr. Metzler will refer you to a specialist who has advanced expertise in areas such as internal medicine or surgery. Here are the rest of our veterinary services.
